Once upon a time there was a mom who thought that she had to make her girls some Valentines. She really enjoyed coming up with cute ideas and then having her girls help gather items and put them all together. They always turned out lovely. It really was a lot of fun but oh, so much work. One day while out shopping the mom saw some of her girls' favorite treats that were already made into a Valentine. They were pink, red, white and even had a spot where her girls could address them to their classmates. Brilliant! But then she worried they wouldn't have that extra handmade touch and wondered if the people who received them would like them as much? Humm, is it really about the handmade touch or just the thought of getting a Valentine? Well, the mom called her girls and asked what they thought. The girls were very happy with this idea so the mom bought the not-so-fancy Valentines. She brought them home, the girls addressed them, and they were done. "WOW", thought the mom. Sometimes it is about the work involved in making handmade Valentines and sometimes it is just about getting them done quickly. In the end, the thing that mattered most was whether or not the girls liked them. Guess what? They did! Yes! In fact, they loved them and they shouted for joy because they were so cute!!!
The End.
The End.
This year I took the easy way out and bought our Valentines. Yikes! I know. The crafter in me has had a little bit of a hard time with that, but as my story goes, it is OK to not make your children's Valentines. It is also Ok to make them. Everyone is different. Next year I might make them, maybe not. Who knows? But don't fret if you don't have the fanciest Valentines. It really is OK. I sometimes feel pressure to have the cutest or best things. Do you? Well don't sweat it! My kids don't really care about the cuteness. All they want is the CANDY (and maybe a little note from the cute boy)!!!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY-
From our Place to Yours!
